Essex v Norfolk - February 2009
Norfolk travelled to Colchester to take on Essex in the first match of the season with several new players in the squad.

The Men's A teams always have a very close match and this was no exception. The visitors made a good start to take the first leg 7-4, but the home side reversed that in the second leg and then repeated that score in the third to take an 18-15 lead. In the final leg Norfolk won the first two games but the home side gradually took control to take the leg 6-5, and the match 24-20. |

The B match took a very similar pattern, but it was the home team who were 7-4 ahead and then the visitors won the second 7-4. Again the home team took the third leg 7-4 and the final leg 6-5 for a 24-20 victory. |

The Ladies match was almost a non-event with Norfolk in complete control from start to finish, winning the match 39-5. |

The Youth match proved interesting as Norfolk had several new players, having lost some through age. The home team raced into an 8-3 first leg win but the visitors fought back to win the second leg 6-5. Unfortunately the third leg proved a disaster as the home side chalked up a 9-2 win and went on to take the final leg 8-3 for a comfortable 30-14 win. |
